Punjab CM vows to resolve public crisis on priority





LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the United Nations delegation held a meeting and agreed to strengthen cooperation in various sectors.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Muhammad Yahya along with a 22-member delegation met the CM of Punjab. The delegation included local presidents of UN bodies.

The meeting agreed that cooperation should be strengthened in various sectors, including education, health and agriculture. Both sides also exchanged views on conducting development projects with the support of UN bodies.

CM Punjab briefed the delegation on education, health sector reforms and government policies. She strengthened Punjab by stating that Punjab’s agricultural sector has full potential to transform Pakistan’s economy.

She reiterated that her priority is development and reforms in every sector. She said her government had prioritized tackling the public crisis.

Build 0.1 million houses

Punjab CM shared about her government program and running social projects. Society will soon be able to carry out reforms more easily. For the first time, a system for evaluating officials is being developed with service delivery and good governance in mind.

The plan to build 0.1 million houses with the cooperation of UN bodies will soon be implemented. CM Maryam Nawaz stressed that it was an honor for her to take over as the Chief Minister despite obstacles.

She said she has a vision to financially empower the disadvantaged and wants every woman to be financially stable and empowered.

She asserted that her governmental mission was to serve the public. She revealed plans to build a tax-free garment city that would provide women with free training and scholarships for six months.

The Government of Punjab is developing a waste management plan for each city in Punjab. She said that Nawaz Sharif IT city will become the Silicon Valley of Pakistan.

Maryam Nawaz stated that her government is developing an effective system to provide complete health infrastructure in every district of Punjab. She also shared that Punjab is initiating the first air ambulance service in Pakistan.

She highlighted health projects, saying that 2,500 primary health care facilities, 300 rural health centers and large hospitals are being modernized.

The first public cancer hospital is being built in Lahore. For two months, free medicines were delivered to the homes of citizens suffering from infectious diseases.

Providing interest-free loans and machinery to small farmers

She emphasized that free meals are organized in schools as part of feeding children.
The government will support farms in rural areas in animal husbandry. Small farmers will receive interest-free loans and machinery.

The first virtual police station was created. The CM of Punjab said that her priority is not only Lahore but every city in Punjab.

The president of the UN team, Muhammad Yahya, said he was interested in visiting Lahore, the people of Punjab were impressive. He vowed to fully support the Punjab government in public service.

UNDP representative Samuel said that social projects in Pakistan, especially in Punjab, are commendable.
