Wearable technology that makes your skin act like a touchscreen

Remember all those cool futuristic gadgets we saw in some sci-fi movies (like Minority Report, for example)? I don’t want to get philosophical, but judging by the gadgets and technology that are currently mushrooming around us, it is becoming more and more obvious that “The Future is Now.”

There have been many new developments in the wearable technology market recently. I have to say this one is definitely the most unique one yet.

The Cicret bracelet can project the touchscreen onto your arm, allowing you to easily access and work with apps without having to take out your phone.

This product is still in the prototype phase and has not yet been officially launched on the market. The creators of The Cicret have created a website that explains the details of their vision, and have also uploaded a video so we can get a broader picture.

The Cicret bracelet uses a Pico projector to project your phone’s screen onto your arm and is equipped with eight proximity sensors that allow the bracelet to detect your finger position when controlling the device.

This futuristic gadget, which will be available in 10 colors, also has its own processor, storage, vibration function, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and, of course, the previously mentioned sensors and projector. Who would have thought that a small bracelet no wider than 10 mm would be able to accommodate all these elements?

The creators of The Cicret Bracelet took to their website asking for donations to help them make their dream come true. Their goal is to raise up to EUR 700,000 to complete the first prototype. A list of all donors will be posted on their website to confirm the authenticity of their efforts. As of this morning (December 3, 2014) they have 2,010 donors and have achieved 14% of their goal.

Personally, I’m very excited about the possibilities of this product. It would be so much easier to be able to walk without having to carry around my big, bulky smartphone (which, honestly, is the size of a brick). I can just leave it in my bag and take care of whatever I need thanks to the Cicret bracelet.

For the ladies, we won’t have to worry about “missing the call because our phone was off and in our bag” or having to pull out our laptops or phones every time we need to send an email or message. Everything would be on our wrist, at a time convenient for us.

However, not everyone has the same opinion about it.

Neil Louis from Subang Jaya said: “This seems like a great idea, but will it do any damage to our skin in the long run? I know we won’t be working on this all day, but if the projector were so bright, wouldn’t it damage the skin?”

Several others were curious about how long the battery life would actually last, expressing their bad experiences with little gadgets that cost a fortune but don’t last that long due to lack of durability and poor battery life.

The younger generation mainly expressed one genuine concern: “So will everyone be able to see what I do online? It seems like it’s hard to hide it if you want to message privately!” said 14-year-old Dhanya Lim from Sunway International School.

The creators of the Cicret bracelet are also in the process of developing the Cicret app.

In short, the Cicret app is a simple messaging service that provides a free and secure chat solution for those who want to talk, share and exchange information securely, without being traced. This technology ensures anonymity and full control over all shared content, even after it has been sent. This means that all messages can be edited even after they have been sent. Now pressing the “Send” button won’t be as stressful as it used to be!

The public can also make donations towards the creation of this app on the Cicret website. For this technology, they need 300.00 euros to develop the application on all platforms.

If you feel like you can’t wait to get your hands on this, head over to their donation page to help them reach their goal.
