King Charles has issued a personal message regarding the death of a notable figure.

The monarch and Queen Camilla have mourned the sudden death of former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, who died on Saturday aged 69.

Daily Record Sunday Mail reported that a “suspected heart attack” could be the reason for the ex-prime minister’s death.

According to ExpressBuckingham Palace released King Charles’ statement, which said: “My wife and I are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Alex Salmond.”

“His dedication to Scotland motivated his decades of public service. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this time.”

Notably, the king’s heartbreaking message came just days before his long-awaited overseas trip, amid his cancer treatment.

For those unfamiliar, King Charles and Queen Camilla will travel to Australia and Samoa and attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from October 18-26, 2024.
