EU regulators will not conduct market tests of Google’s antitrust offer

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – European Union regulators will not seek feedback from more than a hundred critics of Google’s latest offer to end a three-year investigation, the bloc’s antitrust chief said on Wednesday.

“I don’t think we need a market test at this point,” European Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said at a press conference.

On Wednesday, the European Commission unveiled Google’s third trial, calling it an improved offering. The EU regulator has consulted with Google critics on two of the company’s previous proposals.

Almunia said that before issuing a formal decision to accept the offer, Google would send letters to the 18 complainants explaining the Commission’s position.
