Netflix New Releases: June 2024

A sexy comedy with Glen Powell posing as a secret hitman, Jessica Alba kicking ass in an action-packed revenge tale, the inimitable David Letterman interviewing a new group of guests, the continuation of the saga of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, the return of a beloved fantasy series and the story of the most iconic series cheerleading is one of the unique new releases coming to Netflix in June.

The third season of the fantasy series returns to Netflix in June Sweet teeth. The series, based on the popular comic book series by Jeff Lemire, tells the story of a society decimated by a virus and the emergence of human-animal hybrids. The main character of the series is Gus, a young boy, half human, half deer, who is looking for his mother. Season one of Sweet teeth debuted in June 2021, with the second season arriving in June last year. The third season will start on June 6.

On June 7, the long-awaited feature film titled Killer. Richard Linklater’s romantic comedy premiered out of competition at the Venice Film Festival last year, with critics raving about its leading man’s performance, and recent Hollywood reporter cover star Glen Powell, who is clearly having the year of his life. Based on a somewhat true story from an article by Skip Hollandsworth, Killer tells the story of a nerdy police contractor who falls into the role of an undercover assassin. The film also stars Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard and Evan Holtzman.

On June 12, the fifth season of the talk show series My next guest needs no introduction with David Letterman goes to Netflix. It’s been a short break since we last saw David Letterman My next guestafter a special one-off episode with John Mulaney in April, but this time the first one Late night the host brings in guests throughout the season, including Miley Cyrus and Charles Barkley.

Bridgerton fans rejoice! The final third season of the phenomenally successful drama Regency returns this month, and hopefully we’ll find some resolution to Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s burgeoning romance. The four episodes of the second part of the third season – “Tick Tock”, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton”, “Joining of Hands” and “Into the Light” – will debut on Netflix on June 13.

On June 20, Greg Whiteley’s new series about the famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders team will debut on Netflix. America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders tells the inside story of what it takes to create one of the most iconic cheerleading teams in the world, offers an intimate and personal look at the team of dancers, and gives context to the art of cheerleading and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ place in America’s culture.

Jessica Alba recently stepped down from an executive position at her company The Honest Company, and one can only assume that this will lead to more film roles. In his first feature film since 2019 Anonymous AssassinsAlba stars in the Netflix series Startup warning, an action-packed tale of revenge and justice that hits the streamer on June 21. The film focuses on Special Forces Commander Parker (Alba), who, after his sudden death, becomes the new owner of her dad’s bar in her hometown. After returning home, she learns that the city is now controlled by a brutal gang and her goal is to get answers about the tragedy. The film also stars Mark Webber, Jake Weary, Anthony Michael Hall, Kaiwi Lyman and Hari Dhillon and is directed by emerging Indonesian director Mouly Surya.
