ZUS inspector

The Health and Safety Executive (HSA) is looking for an Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Inspector.

In the Senior Inspector position, the successful candidate will report to the HSA Occupational Health Program Manager and will manage the inspection team to ensure their effective and efficient contribution to the HSA Work Program.

The position will require the appointee to provide leadership in the strategic management of assigned areas of responsibility through the identification and development of health and safety initiatives in relevant sectors, as well as a range of other responsibilities.

Communication manager

An opportunity arose to lead the delivery of animal health material for a farmer-focused publication for Animal Health and Welfare Northern Ireland (AHWNI).

The Communications Manager will work with veterinary experts and develop, write and manage all public materials on AHWNI websites, press relations (PR) and social media content.

The main areas of work will focus on developing, managing, refreshing and delivering publicly available evidence-based materials; supporting the CEO of AHWNI in the development of new business areas; and supporting the AHWNI office in the implementation of its current functions.

Technical manager of feed farming

Teagasc, the agricultural advisory and education body, is looking for a Technical Forage Breeding Manager to be responsible for the planning, co-ordination, implementation and management of the forage breeding program at Teagasc Oak Park, Co. Carlow.

The designee will work with the Farm Manager at Oak Park Research Center and will be responsible for supervising, managing and directing staff assigned to the field program, including technical and agricultural staff, as well as students.

The designee will work with the feedlot to implement the breeding program; and planning, coordinating, implementing and managing the day-to-day operations of the field, greenhouse and laboratory breeding program; and assigning daily job duties while supervising, training, managing and directing technical, agricultural and support staff.

Farm worker

Dawn Meats are looking for an experienced farm worker to work at the Newford Demonstration Farm in Athleague, Co. Roscommon, to assist with daily farm operations at weekends.

The herd is run on a fully commercial basis and demonstrates the potential of a medium-sized suckler cattle operation to generate a profitable income from a family farm.

The ideal candidate should be competent in the operation of agricultural machinery, handling farm animals and, among other things, knowledge of keeping records of animal medicines.

Roles at J. Grennan & Sons

Co. Offaly agricultural supply company J. Grennan and Sons is looking to fill several roles.

The company is seeking a Senior Branch Assistant to help lead and develop the retail team to achieve performance metrics and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

This position will require a combination of strategic thinking, operational excellence and strong leadership skills.

J. Grennan and Sons is also looking for a Logistics Coordinator to work in the company’s Transportation Office, working with the team to coordinate routes and freight for customer orders.

The successful candidate for this position will also negotiate cost-effective delivery rates with transportation companies.

The candidate will be required to have at least one year of experience in determining transport routes and the ability to set priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Finally, the company is looking for a Branch Manager who will provide overall management of the J. Grennan and Sons branch ensuring good customer service.

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department; manage inventory levels and order supplies; and employee management, among other things, to maintain appropriate employment levels.

The ideal candidate should, among other skills, have the ability to effectively lead, motivate and manage a team, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in interacting with customers and staff.
