Cooperation between the Canadian and Ukrainian defense sectors was discussed in Ottawa

Representatives of the Canadian and Ukrainian defense industries discussed ways of cooperation during a round table in Ottawa.

According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian ambassador to Canada, Julia Kovaliv, wrote about the case on Facebook.

“Together with the President of the Canadian Defense Industry Association, Christine Cianfarani, I had the honor of opening the first joint Ukrainian-Canadian defense industry event in the history of bilateral relations, the CAN-UKR Defense Cooperation. The event was attended by over 200 representatives of the largest companies operating in the defense and security sector, as well as representatives of the governments of both countries, said Kovalev.

In her opinion, during this unique event it was possible to “discuss ways of joint repair, modernization and production of military equipment, as well as cooperate in research and development.” “CAN-UKR defense cooperation is an important event for establishing cooperation between defense enterprises in Ukraine and Canada. The number of participants speaks for itself. As we develop our powerful defense sector, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, together with our Canadian counterparts in Ottawa and Kiev, is working to establish links between companies,” the Ambassador emphasized.

She emphasized that “today Ukraine is not only fighting the aggressor, but is also at the forefront in the technological development of military technologies, and Canadian companies are interested in close cooperation.” “The security agreement between Ukraine and Canada, signed in February 2024, has laid an important foundation for cooperation in the defense sector,” Kovalev said.

We would like to remind you that the security cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Canada was signed during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to Kiev on the second anniversary of the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.
