Legal and Government Affairs – Alabama Department of Labor

The Alabama Department of Labor’s Division of Legal and Governmental Affairs serves as the primary legal advisor to the entire agency. In this regard, the Department is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the Secretary of Labor and other employees and for issuing legal opinions and interpretations of all policies, regulations, and administrative rules relating to the Department. Additionally, ADOL attorneys represent the Department in all legal matters and review all contracts/agreements and memorandums of understanding.

The Division of Legal and Governmental Affairs also serves as the governmental and legislative liaison between the Department and local, state and federal governments, as well as business and labor groups, and monitors, evaluates, and assists in the development of Department-related legislation.
