Congolese government’s appeasement policy sparking unrest in Karnataka, says Nalin Kumar Kateel

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada (DK) MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has charged that the Congress-led government’s appeasement policy is causing unrest in the state. He claimed that the government had failed to protect the common man.

“The government is involved in anti-Hindu policies. “The submission of B report in connection with the suo motu case registered in connection with the Mangaluru namaz incident is a testimony to the appeasement policy of the state government,” he told the media.

“We condemn the move of the Congress-led state government,” he said and urged the state government to withdraw the case filed against VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell over fasting for performing namaz on the road.

“Several untoward incidents took place in the state after the Siddaramaiah-led government came to power. The state government did not take action against those who raised pro-Pakistan slogans in the corridors of Vidhana Soudha. If the Namaz incident is not taken seriously by the government, then such incidents will recur in the state, giving space to the issue of law and order,” he said.

To a question about Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress president DK Shivakumar’s claim of performing a ritual in Kerala against him and the Prime Minister, he said the Kerala CM and ministers had already clarified it. “DK Shivakumar tried to divert people’s attention with his statements.”

When asked about his next political plan, he said: “I am now an ordinary party worker and I want to remain so until my last breath.”

MLC polls

Kateel expressed confidence that BJP candidate Dr Dhananjay Sarji and BJP-JD(S) candidate SL Bhoje Gowda won in the Southwest graduates and teachers constituencies. “The BJP worked to ensure that 80% votes were registered in the constituency.”

In response to a question about rebel candidates, he said: “Rebel candidates are a common occurrence during elections. However, voters will not prefer rebel candidates. Instead, they will choose BJP candidates. Moreover, the Congress government’s guarantee schemes will have no impact on the MLC elections,” he added.

As a party grows, so do the aspirations of its workers. He added that the party selects candidates keeping in mind various parameters.
