The EFF sees problems with voting machines in red

The Red Berets are not happy that some of the Electoral Commission’s electronic voting machines are causing problems.

The EFF says these technical problems are forcing election officials to use a physical voter roll, “which is of grave concern because it takes time and threatens the accuracy of the voting system.”

Election spokeswoman Sixolise Gcilishe says the party has already heard from several voters who, due to problems, finally gave up after long hours of standing and waiting in a row and returned home without pulling out their crosses.

“This threatens our democratic process.”

Gcilishe says the EFF sincerely hopes that there is indeed something wrong with the IEC electronic voting machines and that these delays are not a clever ploy by the IEC to cause an unscheduled second day of voting.

“The EFF calls on the IEC to urgently address this issue and get the system back up and running as quickly as possible to prevent disruption of these crucial elections.

“We also call on all freedom fighters and supporters of the EFF to practice patience and remember that the opportunity to elect competent leadership will indeed make the wait worth it.”
