The PTDF research team advocates for local production of manufacturing equipment

The Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) says there is a need to develop the technology and manpower needed to exploit the country’s gas resources.

This journey into the future of the oil and gas industry was the focus of a university research graduation seminar sponsored by PTDF
from Port Harcourt.

In line with its mandate to build the capacity of Nigerians to operate and manage the oil and gas industry, PTDF has embarked on a professional
research chair.

Over the past five years, the goal has been to conduct research and propose solutions to the underutilization of Nigeria’s vast gas reserves
reserves.

Top university staff and industry practitioners gathered for this knowledge-sharing and closing session.

Scientists say some of the lessons that can be learned are confidence in local production capacity and ways to improve the safety of gas production and handling
policymakers should consider implementation.

PTDF says the University of Port Harcourt will oversee the selection process for the new candidate for the research position for the next 5 years.
