Exclusive: Watch scs announce exciting updates on civil service salary offers!

The following is a transcript of the remarks made by the Secretary of the Civil Service, Ms. Ingrid Yeung, at the Central Government Offices media session this afternoon (June 4) on the Civil Service Salary Adjustment Offers for 2024-2025:

Reporter: So can you summarize in English why salary increases are only three percent, which is less than the salary trends survey, and why the pay raise rates are the same for every rank of civil servant?

Secretary of the Civil Service: The Executive Council, in accordance with the mechanism governing the adjustment of salaries in the civil service, took into account six factors, namely the state of the Hong Kong economy, changes in the cost of living, net salary trend indicators, the fiscal situation of the government, the salary demands of staff, as well as the morale civil servants. We believe this is a balanced decision, taking into account all six factors and the specifics of this year. We note that the salary offers are slightly different from the net salary trend indicators, but considering all six factors together, we believe this is the right decision for this year.
