Hitachi and Microsoft Forge’s Multi-Billion Artificial Intelligence Collaboration: Details – TradingView News

Japanese conglomerate Hitachi limited liability company HTHIF AND Microsoft MSFT unveiled an anticipated multi-billion-dollar collaboration spanning the next three years to power social innovation through generative AI.

The strategic alliance aims to strengthen Hitachi’s business in Lumada, achieving revenue of 2.65 trillion yen ($18.9 billion) in fiscal 2024.

“Hitachi is driving transformation by applying artificial intelligence across the Hitachi Group to improve productivity and will invest 300 billion yen ($2.1 billion) in GenAI to capture new growth opportunities in fiscal year 2024.” said Keiji Kojima, president and CEO of Hitachi.

The collaboration includes the integration of Hitachi’s Microsoft cloud services, including Azure Open AI Service and Dynamics 365, with Lumada solutions.

Together, they aim to address industry challenges such as energy and mobility by using generative AI to increase the productivity of frontline workers.

Hitachi’s commitment to invest in GenAI is consistent with its broader transformation strategy focused on driving operational efficiency and application development within the group.

Hitachi Rail uses GenAI for predictive maintenance, improving equipment monitoring and service quality while reducing operational costs.

Microsoft Azure facilitates streamlined data visualization, enabling AI-driven analysis for rail infrastructure management.

Hitachi’s Lumada solutions will integrate generative artificial intelligence capabilities to reduce response times and increase operational efficiency. Microsoft’s Generative AI for Cloud Services JP1 aims to increase IT responsiveness and service performance.

The partnership includes supporting the energy transition through enhanced digital solutions for asset performance management and energy trading, with Hitachi Energy technology and Microsoft cloud infrastructure playing key roles.

“Our expanded partnership with Hitachi will combine the power of Microsoft Cloud – including Microsoft Copilot – with Hitachi’s industry expertise to improve the productivity of Hitachi’s 270,000 employees and help solve customers’ greatest challenges, including sustainability,” said Satya, president and CEO Microsoft Nadella.

Hitachi and Microsoft are also prioritizing talent development, aiming to train over 50,000 GenAI specialists equipped with advanced software development skills using GitHub Copilot and Azure OpenAI Service.
