A daredevil British influencer has died after falling from Spain’s highest bridge.

The 26-year-old digital creator, who has not been named by police, is believed to have plunged from the 200-meter Castilla-La Mancha bridge in Talavera de la Reina, about 90 minutes southwest, at 7:15 a.m. Sunday.

He was accompanied by a 24-year-old Englishman, unhurt but “in a state of shock”, according to local police.

The police and firefighters rushed to the scene as soon as the accident was announced, but they could do nothing to save him.

A spokesperson for the national police in Toledo, the province of which Talavera de la Reina is part, said: “It was about 40 to 50 meters high, or about a quarter of the total height of the bridge, when it fell.

“It is unclear why he fell and will be investigated by a local court.”

A source close to the investigation said: “The deceased and his companion who survived were climbing without harnesses or other protection.

“A passing motorist raised the alarm.

“The other boy was initially in shock and couldn’t even speak. He is obviously still quite traumatized but is no longer at the police station.

He will not be charged with any crime. It’s up to them if the local town hall decides to sanction him for doing something illegal.

The Castilla-La Mancha bridge, where the incident occurred, is the second highest in Europe and the highest in Spain.

Investigators are expected to look into the possibility that bad weather played a role in what happened, as it appears it had rained heavily in Talavera de la Reina before the tragedy, making everything more slippery than it was. would have been normally.

It was unclear last night whether the two Brits had traveled to Spain only to build the bridge they wanted to film, but they were using a rental car to get around.

Local councilor Macarena Munoz confirmed the tragedy and said access to the bridge was “totally prohibited”.

She added: “We have made it clear repeatedly that this is not something that can be done in all circumstances.”

The Talavera de la Reina Town Hall confirmed in a press release: “The councilor for citizen security, Macarena Muñoz, confirmed the death of a young man after his fall from the Castilla-La Mancha bridge.

“It involved a 26-year-old Englishman who fell while climbing the aforementioned bridge, which the advisor has made clear is completely prohibited and which we have repeatedly reiterated cannot be done under any circumstances.”

“The young man was accompanied by another 24-year-old Englishman.

“From what we could establish, they had come to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social media, which resulted in this unfortunate and sad outcome.”

“The judge and the medical examiner have already authorized the removal of the body, which has been transferred to the funeral home.”

An autopsy has not yet taken place.
