Walmart will provide its supplier partners with a wider range of buyer information.

On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the retail giant’s Walmart Data Ventures division is launching the beta version of Digital Landscapes, a new self-service data analytics solution as part of Walmart Luminate’s comprehensive suite of data analytics products, designed to help suppliers better understand shoppers.

Until now, Walmart suppliers could make decisions based on insights gathered after the purchase. Now Digital Landscapes makes it possible to track online shopper behavior before purchase.

According to Walmart, Digital Landscapes allows suppliers to understand where customers start their product journey, when they find the product, how the product compares to other products in the category, and what the customer’s path to purchase looks like.

Suppliers can use the solution to analyze daily engagement trends and track traffic-driving sources, such as searches on Walmart’s e-commerce website and mobile app, external search engines and social media platforms.

Walmart first launched Walmart Luminate in 2021, which provides a unified view of category performance and consumer trends at scale. The company recently announced the international expansion of its Walmart Luminate platform, starting with Walmex in Mexico, followed by Walmart Canada later this year.

Walmart continues to update Walmart Luminate New features, latest this is the ability to enable suppliers to connect insights from Luminate to the Walmart Connect retail media network.

Following the initial beta release, Digital Landscapes will be generally available later in summer 2024.

Linda Lomelino, director of the Walmart Data Ventures group, emailed exclusive commentary on Digital Landscapes to: The age of the store chain.

“Many suppliers have difficulty understanding how customers find their products online,” Lomelino said in an email. “With the beta launch of Walmart Luminate Digital Landscapes by Walmart Data Ventures, we aim to provide full visibility into the customer journey by unlocking insights into shopping behavior. Until now, we’ve been providing suppliers with actionable insights into customer post-purchase behavior and performance across multiple channels.

“Now, with pre-purchase behavioral data powered by Walmart.com and the Walmart mobile app, we can gain new insights into how customers find, consider and select products, informing new retail strategies to better position companies in in generating conversions and succeeding with Walmart customers,” Lomelino said.

Walmart Inc. based in Bentonville, Ark. operates over 10,500 stores and numerous e-commerce sites in 19 countries.
