New European regulations are due to come into force in 2025, meaning new motorcycles will have to meet stricter noise regulations if they are to be sold.

The regulation, called UN-ECE R41.05, does not specifically mean that the test thresholds are lower or quieter than before. Instead, it is the conditions under which the noise of a new motorcycle is tested that will have a greater range than before.
