Apple is rolling out an update to VisionOS 1.2 for the Vision Pro headset

Ahead of all the major WWDC news and announcements, Apple has released VisionOS 1.2, the second major update for the Vision Pro portable headset.

The massive update adds the following fixes and changes:

Mobile device management:

  • Enables account-based device and user enrollment with Managed Apple IDs
  • Device configuration support (Wi-Fi, VPN, email accounts, single sign-on and more)
  • Support for bulk app deployment, including iPhone and iPad compatible apps, VisionOS apps included with Universal purchase, and proprietary, internal VisionOS apps
  • Supports remote checkout via MDM and device inventory data

The news:

  • Adds support for iMessage contact key verification

Availability:

  • Closed captions can be anchored in playback controls while watching Apple Immersive Video

Persona (beta) and sight:

  • Adds a hands-free Persona registration option
  • Improves the appearance of hair and makeup
  • Improves the representation of the neck and mouth
  • Improves eye rendering for EyeSight

Virtual Keyboard:

  • Cursor positioning when entering text is now more accurate
  • Fixes some cases where virtual keyboard placement obscures the text input field
  • Fixes an issue where, in some cases, text preview on the virtual keyboard may appear out of sync with the text field in the app
  • Addresses an issue where the edit menu may appear unexpectedly

Mac Virtual Display:

  • Improves the reliability of discovering and connecting to your Mac using the Mac Virtual Display
  • Addresses an issue that may cause Universal Control to stop working
  • Addresses a connectivity issue that occurs when a previously paired Bluetooth device cannot be found

Capture network support:

  • Ability to configure your device while using an internal Wi-Fi network, such as those found in hotels, cafes and airports

‌‌The update can be found, downloaded and installed by going to the Settings app in Vision Pro, selecting the General section and selecting Software Update. To install new software, remove your Vision Pro headset. A progress bar will appear on the EyeSight front display.
