China proposes draft regulations to boost cross-border e-commerce

China has published draft regulations aimed at supporting the establishment of overseas warehouses and developing cross-border e-commerce activities, Reuters reported, citing China’s Commerce Ministry.

Technology and e-commerce companies such as Alibaba (BABA) AliExpress, Shein and PDD (PDD)) It mainly sends products made in China across the border to markets around the world, and their number has been growing in recent years.

This has opened up a new growth path for some companies that previously focused on local consumption, which is currently affected by the macroeconomic slowdown.

The report added that the Commerce Ministry’s draft rules apply to both inbound cross-border e-commerce and outbound e-commerce. The ministry noted that it will strive to improve cross-border data management and optimize supervision of cross-border exports.

Ministries and other departments of the Chinese government will ease financing pathways and support cross-border e-commerce companies to “enter the global market,” the ministry noted.
