Keysight and SmartViser enable testing in accordance with the EU Energy Labeling Regulation

• The joint solution tests the energy efficiency of smartphones and tablets to meet labeling requirements

SANTA ROSA, California, June 11, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) and SmartViser have joined forces to provide device manufacturers with a solution to test the Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) of smartphones and tablets for compliance with European Union energy label mandates. With this common solution, SmartViser viSer test automation software for mobile devices can be used with any configuration of the Keysight UXM 5G wireless test platform.

Pursuant to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/1669, all smartphones and tablets sold in the EU after 20 June 2025 must bear an EEI label. To meet this EU requirement, manufacturers must test these devices using the procedures described in the regulation to determine the battery consumption rate. However, device manufacturers need a plug-and-play EEI testing solution that works with their existing test setups.

To meet this need, Keysight and SmartViser have validated the integration of both platforms to enable users of the UXM 5G wireless test platform to use viSer software to perform an automated test to accurately assess device battery usage.

The Keysight UXM 5G wireless test solution is a highly integrated signaling test platform with multi-format stack support, high processing power and large radio frequency (RF) resources. Supporting 3GPP version 15 and above, the UXM 5G wireless test solution enables engineers to establish a 5G connection to the device under test in a variety of new 5G radio deployment modes. It also supports LTE, eMTC, Wi-Fi^®and C-V2X signaling formats.
