New features are coming to Apple services this fall

Users can view trips in Apple Maps, redeem rewards and access installments with Apple Pay, enjoy the redesigned Apple Fitness+ and more

With the release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, VisionOS 2 and tvOS 18 this fall, Apple is improving users’ favorite services with all-new features. Updates include U.S. national park hikes and custom hiking routes in Apple Maps; ability to pay with rewards and installments using Apple Pay; new accessibility features in Apple Music; and a redesigned Apple Fitness+ experience to help users make the most of its robust library of exercises and meditations.

More ways to discover the world with Apple Maps

Apple Maps offers even more ways to explore the world, including hiking and custom walking routes. Users can browse thousands of national park hikes across the United States – filtering by length, elevation and route type – and save them for offline use. Users can also create their own custom walking routes with just a few taps to plan anything from a local exercise route to a full-day walking tour of a new city. Additionally, they can save their favorite national park hikes, walks and places in the all-new Places Library and add personal notes about them.

More flexibility with Apple Pay

Apple Pay gives users even more flexibility and choice when making payments online and in-app. Users can view and redeem rewards and access installment loan offers from eligible credit or debit cards when making purchases online or in the app on iPhone and iPad.¹ These features will be available to any bank or issuer that supports Apple Pay for integration in supported markets.

The ability to redeem rewards for purchases using Apple Pay will be available starting in the US for Discover and Synchrony, and across all Apple Pay issuers via Fiserv. The ability to access credit and debit card installments using Apple Pay will launch in Australia at ANZ; in Spain with CaixaBank; in the UK at HSBC and Monzo; and in the US with Citi, Synchrony and Fiserv issuers. Users in the US will also be able to apply for loans directly through Affirm when making payments using Apple Pay.

Users can use Apple Pay on any third-party web browser² and computer by simply scanning the code on your iPhone to complete your payment securely.³ Additionally, with Tap to Provision, users can add eligible credit or debit cards to Apple Wallet by simply tapping their card to the back of their iPhone.⁴

Tap to pay with Apple Cash

With Tap to Cash, users can send and receive Apple Cash by holding two iPhones together – without having to share phone numbers.⁵ For example, Tap to Cash can be used to reimburse someone for dinner or buy something at a garage sale.

Improved event tickets with Apple Wallet

Event tickets on Apple Wallet have undergone the biggest transformation ever with a beautiful new look and richer fan experiences. Tickets in the Wallet app puts key event information at your fingertips, such as a venue map and parking details; useful services such as on-site food delivery; recommended playlists from Apple Music; local weather forecasts; and easy access to location sharing to help fans find friends when they arrive.

Redesigned Apple Fitness+ experience

In iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and tvOS 18, Apple Fitness+, the award-winning fitness and wellness service offering workouts and meditations that are friendly to everyone, has been redesigned to help users make the most of its extensive exercise library, stay motivated, and stay consistent with their program exercises.

New features include For You, which provides personalized recommendations; Explore, which helps users discover new activities and get inspired; A library that makes it easy to track your favorite workouts, meditations, stacks, custom plans and saved programs; a search engine that quickly returns specific activity types, trainers, durations and favorite music artists; and reward and pass reminders now front and center.

In the Fitness app on iPhone, personalized Fitness+ recommendations appear in the Summary tab, so users can find their next great workout or meditation alongside their activity and workout data.

Collaborative listening and greater accessibility with Apple Music

With updates to SharePlay in Apple Music, even more users can share control of music playback from HomePod, Apple TV or any Bluetooth-enabled speaker, making listening together even more enjoyable and rewarding. Participants do not need to have an Apple Music subscription to contribute to the music being played.

Apple Music introduces Music Haptics, a way for deaf and hard of hearing users to enjoy music on iPhone. When you turn on this feature, iPhone’s Taptic Engine reproduces taps, textures, and enhanced vibrations in conjunction with the sound of your music. Music Haptics works with millions of songs from the Apple Music catalog and will be available as an API for developers to share music within their apps.

Optimized viewing experience on Apple TV

The Apple TV app introduces the InSight feature, which displays real-time on-screen information about actors, characters and music from Apple TV+ movies and shows. Users can select an actor to view their background and filmography page, or quickly view the song playing in a scene and add it to an Apple Music playlist.

Enhance Dialogue gets smarter with tvOS 18, using machine learning and computational audio to deliver greater voice clarity over music, action and background noise on Apple TV 4K.⁶

Captions allow users to stay engaged with their favorite content, and for even greater convenience in tvOS 18, they appear automatically at appropriate moments, such as when the language of a show or movie does not match the language of the device, when the user mutes the sound, or when they step back while watching something.

iCloud Mail updates and more consistent sign-in with your Apple account

iCloud Mail introduces users to new ways to manage their inbox and stay up to date with categorization. Emails are organized and sorted into Basic categories for personal and time-sensitive messages; Transactions for confirmations and receipts; Social news and notification updates; and email marketing and coupon promotions.⁷ iCloud Settings have been redesigned to help users more easily take action on personalized recommendations to enable key iCloud features, get the most out of iCloud+, and quickly check the status of your latest iCloud backup.

With the release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and watchOS 11, Apple ID is changing to Apple Account to provide consistent sign-in across Apple services and devices and build on a user’s existing credentials.

This feature will be available in iOS 18 on cards from participating banks and card providers in certain markets and is subject to eligibility and approval.
This feature will not be available in all markets.
