State-level workshops on energy efficiency in agriculture and related sectors

The state level workshop on ‘Energy Utilization Efficiency in Agriculture and Allied Sectors’ was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang and ICAR-Institute of Agricultural Technology Application Research, Zone VI, Guwahati, in collaboration with the designated agency of Assam. The workshop focused on the concept of “per unit – more fall, more yield” with near-zero emissions for climate-resilient agriculture.

Chief Guest, Shri. Navin Kumar Roy, CEO, NABARD, highlighted the importance of sustainable energy in the agricultural sector, especially solar energy. He discussed various methods of implementing sustainable energy at the local level and how farmers can effectively implement these practices.

Guest of Honor, Shri. Gurujyoti Das, Chairman, AFDC, and former MLA, Mangaldoi, discussed the importance of modern agricultural technologies in northeast India, especially in rural Assam, and how these technologies can transform agricultural practices.

Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone VI, emphasized the need to raise awareness among farmers on renewable energy, with special emphasis on drip irrigation. He also spoke about the key role of renewable energy in creating climate-resilient agriculture.

The workshops included technical and interactive sessions, enabling farmers from Darrang and nearby districts to engage with experts, discuss challenges and seek solutions.
