macOS Sequoia Compatibility – These devices are no longer supported

If you want to keep your devices as long as possible while staying connected to the latest updates, the latest macOS Sequoia and iPadOS 18 updates will leave you in a tizzy if you use some Macs and iPads.

It makes sense that older Apple devices won’t support Sequoia. Apple recently announced that its “Apple Intelligence” AI features will only work with Apple’s M-series chips, such as the M1 or newer M4 processors.

That said, the newly announced iPhone Mirroring feature will be available for both Apple silicon-based Apple Macs and Intel-based computers. This feature allows users to control their iPhone through their Mac screen.

Devices not on the compatibility list will continue to work, but will no longer receive patches or security updates from Apple. As apps and programs are updated, they may also no longer support older versions.

Moving to iPads, Apple is discontinuing support for the first-generation iPad Pro and the second-generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch. It also removes support for the 6th generation iPad.

Like Mac computers, iPadOS 18 introduces new artificial intelligence features to the operating system that require more power than older chips can handle.

Apple announced updates to the operating system during WWDC 2024. The updates are currently available to Apple developers. Users should see daily updates released sometime in September.
