The acquisition brings Pye-Barker Fire & Safety to five new locations

ATLANTA – Pye-Barker Fire & Safety – a full-service provider of fire protection, life safety and security services in the United States – has acquired Bates Security, a provider of security and alarm systems in the Southeast.

Bates Security, ranked 32nd in the latest SDM Top 100, is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, with additional offices in Prestonsburg, Kentucky; Jacksonville, Florida; Vero Beach, Florida; and Lake Placid, Florida. With these additions, Pye-Barker says it will gain customers throughout Kentucky, Florida and South Georgia.

Founded in 1984 by Sonny and Pat Bates, Bates Security is a provider of security and fire alarms, access control, video surveillance, CCTV and integrated security systems. Sonny, a former United States Air Force military police officer, became interested in security systems while working for the Dallas Police Department. He saw firsthand how effective this technology could be, and he and his wife Pat soon entered the security industry. Today, the company is run by their sons, Jeremy and Bryan Bates, who have led a team committed to doing the right thing, continuous learning and respecting the important role they play in protecting customers.
