Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Ring alongside the Galaxy Watch series at its Unpacked event in Paris, France, on July 10. The small, discreet health and fitness tracker is designed for 24/7 health monitoring, Samsung said. The Ring has a lightweight design, weighing between 2.3g and 3g — depending on the size. Speaking of size, the Galaxy Ring is offered in nine size options — all made of grade 5 titanium and boasting a water resistance of 10 ATM. As for colors, Samsung confirmed that the Ring will be available in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold.

Detailing the features of the Galaxy Ring, Samsung claims that the battery life on a single charge with continuous use is up to seven days. According to Samsung, the ring will come in a specially designed charging case with aesthetic LED lighting to indicate charging status. Like the 2024 Galaxy Watch series, the Galaxy Ring is powered by AI capabilities. Samsung said that all the data and insights from the ring are integrated with the Samsung Health platform, for easy access that does not require any subscription.

Galaxy Ring: AI Features

Samsung said that Galaxy AI is integrated with Galaxy Ring to generate a detailed health report that focuses on various health metrics. Elaborating on the specific role of Galaxy AI, Samsung shared details about the new “Energy Score” feature – a Galaxy AI feature that aims to make users more aware of how health affects their daily lives. It essentially offers recommendations based on users’ current physical state so that they can focus on their daily efforts to make improvements. Samsung said that this score is calculated by assessing users’ physical and mental states based on four important factors: sleep, activity, heart rate during sleep, and heart rate variability during sleep.

Galaxy Ring: Health and Well-Being Features

When it comes to health tracking capabilities, Samsung has focused on sleep and wellness features. The company said that the Galaxy Ring offers best-in-class sleep analysis and a powerful AI sleep algorithm to help you easily understand your sleep patterns and develop better habits — sleep score, snoring analysis, sleep movement, sleep latency, and heart and respiratory rates. With these metrics, Samsung says the Galaxy Ring provides a detailed and accurate analysis of your sleep quality. Additionally, the Ring supports a “Cycle Tracking” feature, which it claims will allow women to track their menstrual cycles through 24/7 skin temperature monitoring.

Samsung said the Galaxy Ring also supports broader daily wellness monitoring, including heart health metrics with Heart Rate Alert. Samsung says the feature provides instant notifications of abnormally high or low heart rates in real time through the Samsung Health app. Users can get additional heart rate information, including beats per minute, start time, and duration, with Live Heart Rate Check, Samsung said.

Samsung said that the Galaxy Ring will help users maintain an active lifestyle and stay motivated with automatic tracking of walking and running with Auto Workout Detection and daily fitness reminders with the Inactive Alert feature. Additionally, you can easily take photos or turn off an alarm on your Galaxy smartphones with a double pinch using the Gestures feature, and find the location of your Galaxy Ring using your Galaxy smartphone with the Find My Ring feature in the Samsung Find app.
