Labour warns CFMEU clean-up must go further

A crackdown on construction unions will extend to builders caught supporting the CFMEU’s thuggish activities, as industry groups warn the impending takeover of the union’s construction division requires tougher steps to stamp out the lawlessness.

Labour Relations Minister Murray Watt is considering options to stop builders and contractors paying bribes to gain favour with unions, ahead of a bill to put CFMEU construction branches in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania into administration.
