Chatham’s Bridget Carleton scored 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting as the Minnesota Lynx lost 73-70 to the Connecticut Sun in Game 1 of the WNBA semifinals Sunday in Minneapolis.

Carleton also had two rebounds and two steals, going 3 of 6 from beyond the arc.

The second-seeded Lynx led 62-57 after three quarters, but the third-seeded Sun outscored them 16-8 in the fourth quarter.

The Lynx will host the second game of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday.

“Everyone in our locker room has complete confidence and belief in each other,” Carleton said. “…It’s a long series. There’s a reason it’s a five-game series. We have all the faith in the world that we will play better on Tuesday night and hopefully win. Of course it’s hard to lose at home because we love playing at the Target Center and we want to win every game at home, especially against a No. 2 seed, but it’s a long series for a reason, so it’s all good.
