Luxury store removes word ‘Christmas’ from popular gift catalog

The iconic annual gift catalog known for its extravagance has dropped the word “Christmas” from its name after nearly 100 years of operation.

Neiman Marcus’ In print since 1926, “The Christmas Book” first began as a 16-page booklet. In the years since, it has become popular among wealthy people and bucket list dreamers alike for its “Fantasy Gift.”

“pass through”Christmas BookAccording to the New York Post, the addition of this year’s catalog to the “Holiday Book” created uneasiness within the 117-year-old Dallas-based company.

According to sources, new CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck, who initiated layoffs and internal restructurings, is said to be very unpopular within the company.

“If Geoffroy and his team spent as much time running the business as they did expressing their views on DEI, we would be buying Saks or launching an IPO,” one employee told The New York Post. “Instead, my job is at risk because of our business failure.”

“Fancy Gift” has been a particularly popular focus of the catalog every year since its inception in 1959. these gifts particularly dazzling due to their price tags and rarity.

The “Fantasy Gifts” of 2024 include a $1.9 million 18th-century car that once belonged to the Spanish royal family and a $777,777 Namibian safari.

There is no mention of the new rebrand on the current catalog cover; instead the new cover refers to the book simply as “A Neiman’s Fantasy.”

Neiman Marcus will be acquired by HBC, the parent company of Saks Fifth Avenue, in 2025.

“We think this is a last ditch rush for Geoffroy,” one employee told the New York Post.
