Family-friendly fun event in New Jersey turns into chaos after hundreds of teenagers wreak havoc: police

A trip sponsored by PTA a quiet New Jersey The town descended into chaos as police were forced to intervene after hundreds of unruly youths began fighting and wreaking havoc in a local park.

Collingswood Police Department shared in a Facebook post The Haunted Hayride in Knight Park required police intervention after an estimated 200-plus children were dropped off at Knight Park in Collingswood, New Jersey, a family friend said.

“The event was quickly disrupted, largely due to fights and unruly behavior among the youth who attended,” the ministry said.

Authorities said the out-of-control behavior began shortly after 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 19, when the young adults “ran recklessly through the crowd and lined up for hay rides.”

Police said officers dispersed rowdy children “to ensure the safety of families attending the event.”

But it was decided there was no safe way to continue the fun and the police closed the door. Halloween event decreased.

But the night is not over yet for the crazy teenagers. Police said 50 to 70 teenagers took over the local gas station, Wawa.

“While officers were in the middle of dispersing the crowd in the park, a call was received at the Wawa on Haddon Avenue reporting that 50-70 youths had taken over the store,” police said. “Officers were able to assist Wawa in dispersing the group of juveniles who were stealing items and causing a disturbance.”

Wawa was also forced to close to prevent further damage, police said.

Police said that the chaos continued in residential areas.

“When the officers arrived Police found that approximately 80 youths were involved in a large fight in the park and were met with resistance from the youths, who punched, kicked and pushed officers to continue the fight. “Some young people broke away from the main group and started fighting. I’m running through the backyards of nearby residences.”

Police teams later dispersed the crowd and restored order. The ministry said they did not make any arrests.

Event staff at the Collingswood Haunted Hayride event said in a Facebook post that the “evening went beyond what we expected.”

“Unfortunately, as everyone saw and realized, much of the night was beyond what was expected, but with feedback and awareness we will review and organize to determine a way to move forward into next year.” hayride wrote on Facebook. “We thank you for your support and without it our event would not be possible.”
