One person died in a crash in Minnehaha County on Thursday

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash outside Sioux Falls Thursday morning.

Seat Belt Used: NO

Minnehaha County, SD- A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash nine miles west of Sioux Falls, SD, this morning.

The names of the people involved were not released until family members were notified.

Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 1999 Harley Davidson was traveling westbound on SD Highway 42 near mile marker 350.

At the same time, the driver of a 2016 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on SD 42 and attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him by entering the westbound lane.

While crossing the street, he collided head-on with a motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram was slightly injured.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information disclosed so far is only preliminary.
