KENT, Mich. (WILKES) – Gerald R. Ford International Airport near Grand Rapids is receiving $7 million from the federal government for ongoing improvements.

The money will fund the second phase of the airport’s nearly 70,500-square-foot terminal expansion, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The federal government is spending nearly $1 billion to upgrade airports across the country.
