Jose Mourinho sarcastically called Clement Turpin “one of the best referees in the world”

After Fenerbahçe’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United, Jose Mourinho clearly expressed his thoughts on French referee Clement Turpin in a conversation with reporters. TNT Sport.

The former Chelsea manager was sent off during the game due to his reaction to Turpin’s refusal to award a penalty to the Turkish side. The Frenchman considered Mourinho’s protests to be excessive, he was given his marching orders and was ejected from the touchline for the rest of the match, which ultimately ended in a draw.

Fenerbahce welcomed the Red Devils to Turkey as Jose Mourinho faced his former club for the first time since being Tottenham manager. The Portuguese coach successfully led the Manchester club, winning the UEFA Europa League, the Carabao Cup and finishing runners-up in the Premier League. However, there was no love in his antics on Thursday night.

Speaking after the match, the Fenerbahçe coach harshly criticized Turpin for his handling of the situation: “I don’t want to talk about it. He told me something incredible: he said that I could see what was happening in the penalty area and my behavior on the sideline. I congratulate him, he is absolutely incredible.”

The former United manager added: “During the game, at 100 miles an hour, he had one eye on the penalty situation, the other on the bench and my behavior. This is the explanation he gave me. That’s why he is one of the best referees in the world.”
