Skeletal remains found near Pa. shopping center.

Human remains were discovered earlier this week near an Erie County mall.

The skeletal remains were found by a fisherman about 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Millcreek Mall Boulevard. in Walnut Creek, according to reports from YourErie.com And Erie-Times News.

The body was found lying on its back in the stream. He had no identification and was so decomposed that officials were unable to determine his gender.

“We have no idea who this person is,” Erie County Deputy Coroner John Maloney told the Erie-Times News, adding that the body had been decomposing for some time.

At first, 67-year-old fisherman Alexander Sova said he thought it was the body of a deer or other animal until he approached it. He then went to a nearby office and called 911.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said. YourErie.com that he plans to perform an autopsy later today.
