First degree murder charge for stabbing in Ottawa park

The man accused of stabbing and killing a woman in front of her children in an Ottawa park Thursday morning has been charged with first-degree murder, according to city police, who called it the woman’s murder.

Brkti Berhe, 36, of Ottawa, said in a news release from Ottawa police. was attacked around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Uplands and Paul Anka streets.south of the core and close to the city’s international airport.

She died at Paul Landry Park, sources told CBC. Paramedics told CBC the woman’s children were not injured.

Police said the male suspect fled in a vehicle and was arrested near Exit 66 on Highway 417 in Casselman, Ont., about 50 kilometers east of the park.

Ottawa police said Friday that Fshe Tehle, 36, of Montreal, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Berhe’s death.
