Nebraska Volleyball Will Play Big Ten Rivals at Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2025

Nebraska Volleyball Will Play Big Ten Rivals at Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2025

John Cook has more attendance records in his brain.

The Purdue Boilermakers may have lost to the Huskers in 5 sets on October 11, but they beat Nebraska in another regard. On October 19 at Indiana, the Boilermakers drew 14,876 people at Mackey Arena, home of the Purdue Basketball teams, breaking the Big Ten attendance record of 10,927 set in 2004 when Illinois played Minnesota.

Not to be outdone, the Nebraska head coach aims to break this record in 2025.

“I immediately sent a text to our Athletic Director, Troy (Dannen), and said, ‘Okay, “We have to start playing,” he said.

“We will definitely go to the PBA (Pinnacle Bank Arena) next year so we can break that record too,” Cook said.

“We want to hold all the records,” Cook continued, “I think our fans are excited, so we’ll have to play a Big Ten game in the PBA arena.”

Pinnacle Bank Arena is the home of the Nebraska Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams and seats 15,500. The current PBA record for a volleyball match was set in 2016, when the US National team packed 10,213 fans into the building.

Nebraska also continues to push the limits of their current stadium, the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The new attendance for last season’s five-set thriller against Wisconsin was set at 9,198.

Nebraska has been part of numerous attendance records, including the current world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event (92,003), which was set when the Huskers played at Memorial Stadium at the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Aug. 30, 2023. Nebraska Cornhuskers football.

The Huskers also participated in the top 11 most attended women’s volleyball events in NCAA history.

Before chasing more attendance records, the Huskers need to continue a successful run in 2024. Nebraska will host Illinois on Friday and Michigan on Saturday this weekend.
