Woman charged with murder after admitting to fatal 2018 crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A woman was arraigned Friday after admitting last year to a fatal crash that happened in 2018, according to Metro Nashville Police.

Kara Vaughn, 32, told police she was supposed to pick up Markeith Bass, 34, but instead hit him with her car in anger. Police say she was drunk and driving a stolen SUV when she hit him.

The accident happened on Trinity Lane near Brick Church Pike in September 2018.

Vaughn has been incarcerated since 2022 on unrelated charges, but admitted to a DCSO corporal that he hit Bass with a car in February 2023 to “clear her conscience.”

Police said Vaughn was arraigned Friday morning on an outstanding charge of 2nd degree murder.
