Billionaire Pritzker heir lists Los Angeles home for $195 million

Although they separated at the end of 2022 after 33 years of marriage, the extravagant Los Angeles The estate, which Tony and Jeanne Pritzker once shared, has only now come up for sale following the finalization of their divorce in May of this year. The Pritzkers are heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune and chairman and chief executive officer. If the place fetches anything close to the hefty asking price, it will set a record for the city, surpassing the sale of a nearby Beverly Hills site known as the Warner Estate, which went to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2020 for $165 million. Listing the owners are Steven Shapiro and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Real Estate.

Set behind walls and a long gated driveway with hedges, on a six-acre promontory overlooking the entire Los Angeles Basin, the hotel was custom built and designed by McCoy Construction and architect Ed Tuttle over a six-year period and completed in 2011 . The structures include a main house, a separate guest house and separate staff quarters—a total of 16 bedrooms and 27 baths in 50,000 square feet.

A courtyard with fountains serves as the gateway to the main residence, which is greeted by a striking atrium-style foyer reminiscent of I.M. Pei’s foyer. Louvre Pyramid. Other highlights include a living room with one of nearly 20 fireplaces scattered throughout the home, a formal dining room, a gourmet kitchen equipped with Gagganeau appliances, and a library. The luxurious master suite has dual closets and bathrooms.

Elsewhere there is a cinema, wine cellar, wellness centre, bowling alley and safe room. The amenities continue outdoors, where the manicured grounds are surrounded by gardens and winding paths, and also feature an infinity pool and spa, a full kitchen, and a lighted tennis court surrounded by an observation deck. It also features geothermal heating and cooling, as well as solar panels, a generator and on-site parking for up to 100 cars.

The former couple have since split real estate ways. Per Wall Street Journalwho first reported the listing, Jeanne has moved out of the family estate, and Tony Pritzker appears to have spent $19.5 million on a penthouse at the Westwood condominium in Beverly West.
