Illegally captured parrots rescued

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Police Animal Rescue Center successfully recovered illegally captive parrots and arrested two suspects.

Officials said cases have been registered against the accused, identified as Niyaz and Asim, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The suspects were found to have cut off the parrots’ wings and neglected their basic needs, leaving them hungry and thirsty.

Acting on information about the illegal captivity, the Police Animal Rescue Center conducted a raid and detained both people while rescuing the parrots.

Individual cases have been registered with the local police station under the Cruelty to Animals Act and other relevant provisions. The rescued birds are currently being cared for at the Police Animal Rescue Center where they will receive care and protection.

The police spokesperson stressed that the center is actively involved in the welfare of deaf animals throughout Rawalpindi.

Citizens are encouraged to report any incidents of animal cruelty to the Rawalpindi Police to help protect these vulnerable creatures.
