A Chicago firefighter was seriously injured while battling a fire in Burnside, CFD says.

CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago firefighter was injured while battling a fire on the city’s South Side Friday night, CFD said.

According to the fire department, the fire broke out around 9 p.m. near 90th Street and Langley in the Burnside neighborhood.

The injured firefighter was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious to critical condition, according to CFD.

The Central Federal District did not specify how the firefighter was injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
