Since 2009, more than 11 thousand people have received free legal assistance from the state

Around 11,10,036 people have so far received legal aid from the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) using government funds from 2009 to September this year.

The organization published the information on its website today (October 26).

In the last 15 years, NLASO has settled 2,03,032 cases by providing legal aid.

The organization has provided 4,42,696 legal consultations so far, the report said, adding that NLASO has received compensation of TRY 217,59,61,858 through settlement of legal aid cases and this money has been rewarded to victims.

Of the total 11,10,036 legal aid recipients, 28,016 received services from the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 8,74,661 from the 64 District Legal Aid Bureaus, 28,853 from the Dhaka and Chattogram Employee Legal Aid Office, and 1,78,506 from in paid free call center hotline.

In addition, before the introduction of the national helpline, another 17,328 people received legal assistance in the office.

NLASO has also resolved 1,29,038 cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service.

The government provides legal assistance to financially insolvent and poor people through NLASO.
