Donald Trump interview with Joe Rogan? Don’t worry

Have you ever been in a bar or restaurant and heard two people who clearly have no idea what they are talking about but continue talking anyway? And the dumber the louder? And in the end, shrimp aren’t as tasty anymore?

This is what it was like listening to The Joe Rogan Experience on Friday night when Rogan publishes sensational interview with Donald Trumprecorded earlier that day. It was bad and it didn’t end.

What a waste of three hours.

I thought Rogan could challenge Trump, whom he has criticized before. Maybe force him to defend some of his more insecure positions, or at least try to. He did this from time to time, little by little. But mostly Rogan would just bring up the topic, Trump would start talking, and Rogan would let him go without any argument.

This is part of both Trump and Kamala Harris‘ efforts to use non-traditional forms of media to attract voters – and in particular to attract young male voters. Trump recently held a rally at Arizona State University’s Mullett Arena.For example. This may seem like a small part of the electorate, but in fact historically close race (according to surveys), theoretically every little bit helps.

They discussed, among other things, how bull riders sometimes die, the characteristics of concrete, and the effect of wind on whales.

“What’s happening to the whales?” Rogan asked after Trump made disparaging remarks about windmills, an alternative form of energy.

“The wind drives whales crazy. … I want to be a whale psychiatrist.”

He also wants to become president and has achieved some of his campaign’s greatest successes. He was dismissive of Harris’s intelligence, commendable tariffs (“For me, the most beautiful word… in the dictionary today is the word tariff. It is more beautiful than love. It is more beautiful than anything in the world.”) and, why not, once again falsely claimed that he won the 2020 election.

“I don’t want to get you into any controversy, but I won this election so easily,” Trump said, referring to the election. he lost to President Joe Biden.

“I want to talk to you about this,” Rogan said, which in this conversation was tantamount to rebuff. He asked Trump why none of his claims of election fraud were examined in courtbut Trump simply returned to the usual complaints about a bad judicial system.

“This show is too valuable to talk about in particular” and yet

Perhaps the best quote of all is Trump’s words: “This show is too valuable to talk about anything in particular.”

I’m not sure if this is true.

Honestly, it’s hard to describe what it was really like to wade through it all, just a marathon of mediocrity. Imagine a Trump rally, only if Trump was more energetic than he has been lately, and someone on stage echoed him. Even if Rogan asked Trump to explain himself, however gently, he didn’t dwell on it too long.

Trump told Rogan that wildfires could one day be prevented if they simply rake up the forest floor.

– Could you really rob the entire forest? – Rogan asked. “I don’t think you can rake the whole forest.”

And it’s tough questions like these that will earn you nearly 15 million listeners on Spotify alone.

Trump and Rogan seemed delighted with each other

The two seemed to be enjoying each other’s company, just a pair of brothers talking nonsense in between compliments and praise for the MMA fights. Just two people cut from the same cloth of reality television, where they found a large audience and somehow became important.

“Did you just assume that because people loved you on The Apprentice that they would love you as President?” Rogan asked at one point.

“Well, I thought it would be so easy,” Trump said.

“Well, maybe you would have if the media hadn’t attacked you the way they did, if they hadn’t confused you with Hitler. … They like to take things out of context and distort them,” Rogan said.

“They don’t even have to do it,” Trump said. “They make them up entirely.”

“They do it too,” Rogan said.

And so it went.

Another pointed question from Rogan: “How are you so healthy? Is this golf?

“No,” Trump said, “I think it’s genetics.” Of course he does.

They didn’t cut through the noise. They stepped it up

Somewhere, someone is listening to this podcast and says: finally. Just a couple of guys having a serious conversation. But that was not the case. These were two guys who were surprisingly attracted to each other in a three-hour marathon mutual appreciation society meeting.

They didn’t cut through the noise. They stepped it up. At one point, Rogan said that even though Harris said she wouldn’t appear on his show, he hoped she would anyway. It would be interesting in terms of comparing the way he talks to her and the way he talked to Trump.

At least it’s interesting from the listener’s point of view. From her point of view, why bother?
