Columbus man gets life in prison in fatal shooting on Highway 104 in 2022

COLUMBUS, Ohio (English)VKMG) – A man wanted, arrested and charged with murder in a shooting on State Route 104 was sentenced Thursday to a minimum of nearly 40 years in prison, according to court documents.

Brad Madison pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and weapons charges in connection with the death of Brandon Joyner, 33, who was shot while driving on Highway 104 in southwest Columbus, according to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.

Madison, 37, shot Joyner multiple times as the two were driving separate cars west of Hole Road on May 16, 2022. Joyner’s car crashed into the median barrier near the intersection and the police found him at a short distance. He was pronounced dead at 2:53 a.m.

Nine days later, Columbus SWAT officers Madison arrestedand he was charged a week later. On Oct. 7, a Franklin County jury found Madison guilty of all charges, including two three-year firearms requirements.

Judge Dan Hawkins sentenced Madison to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 39 years. Madison will also be registered as a violent offender.
