First half: St. Pauli dominates possession

St Pauli took control of the ball in the first half as the home side looked to break their drought at the Millerntor. At the 15th minute Johannes Eggestein had the first significant chance of the match, forcing the Wolfsburg goalkeeper to save the shot Kamil Grabara. The home team continued to press and in the 42nd minute Jackson Irwin was agonizingly close to opening the scoring, but Grabara made a superb one-handed save to tip the ball over the crossbar. Despite St. Pauli’s dominance, Wolfsburg nearly took the lead just before half-time when Jonas Windthe title from the corner was cleverly preserved Nikola Vasil.

Second half: Wolfsburg hits back

The dynamics changed in the second half as Wolfsburg took to the field with renewed energy. Just two minutes after restarting, Mohamed Amura tested Vasil with a powerful blow, signaling the guests’ intentions. St Pauli thought they had broken the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Morgan Gilavogi found the net, but the goal was not counted due to offside. As the match progressed, both teams had chances to win. Danel Sinani forced another penalty save from Grabara in the 63rd minute, while Thiago Thomas Wolfsburg came close in the 81st minute, but Vasil saved the shot. The intensity of the match was reflected in three yellow cards received by Wolfsburg players: Jakub Kaminski (76 minutes), Joakim Maele (82 minutes) and Lovro Maier (90 minutes).

Man of the match: Kamil Grabara

Grabara put in a brilliant performance to earn Wolfsburg a valuable away point. The Polish goalkeeper made several important saves throughout the match, including a spectacular one-handed goal to deny Irvine a powerful shot in the first half. The Wolfsburg captain’s commanding presence in the box and quick reactions were instrumental in keeping the game clean despite St. Pauli’s persistent attacks. His distribution and decision-making under pressure also helped Wolfsburg maintain composure during difficult periods of the game. With a total of four saves, Grabara’s performance was crucial in securing a draw for his team.
