Surviving members of the Grateful Dead mourn the death of Phil Lesh

Grateful Dead fans are in deep mourning. Yesterday (October 25), a representative of the group spoke at an official reception. Instagram page to announce that the founding bassist Phil Lesh died at the age of 84.

Netizens paid tribute to Lesh’s surviving bandmates. Bob Weir, Mickey HartBill Kreutzmann and even the family of the deceased member Jerry Garcia wrote heartfelt messages.

“(Lesh) introduced me (and us) to the wonders of modern classical music, its textures and developments, which we soon tried to incorporate into what we had to offer,” wrote Bob Weir.

Mickey Hart spoke about their brotherly relationship: letter: “(Lesh was) larger than life at the very center of the band and my ears, filling my brain with waves of bass.”

Bill Kreutzmann echoed the Hart family’s sentiments: composition: “(Lesh) was not just like a brother to me – he was like an older brother. Roommate. Group mate. Mentor”.

Jerry Garcia’s family expressed their condolences. letter: “(We) will miss his sharply dry humor, wry smiles and brilliant ideas.”

In an initial joint statement, Mickey, Billy and Bobby put their words together to tell the world the devastating news, writing: “Today we lost a brother. Our hearts and love go out to Jill Lesh, Brian and Graham. Phil Lesh was irreplaceable. In one note of Phil Zone one could hear and feel the birth of a world. His bass flowed like a river flows. It went where the muse took it. He was an inner-outer space explorer and happened to play the bass. He was a traveler through previously unknown musical worlds.”
