James Franco explains why his 20-year friendship with Seth Rogen is ‘over’

James Franco’s return marks the bittersweet end of his longtime friendship with Seth Rogen. The duo, who became comedy icons thanks to films such as Pineapple Express And Interviewhave not spoken since Franco was accused of sexual misconduct in 2018.

The turning point occurred after Franco encountered accusations from several womenleading to a lawsuit that he settled in 2021. Rogen, who has been the Golden Globe winner’s best friend for more than 20 years, has decided to sever professional ties.

“I despise abuse and harassment, and I would never hide or hide the actions of someone who does it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they find themselves around such a person,” the Canadian comedian told the publication Sunday Timesshortly after Franco settled his lawsuit.

“I also think back to that interview in 2018 where I said I would continue to work with James, but the truth is I haven’t and I don’t plan to now,” Rogen added.

During Franco’s break from the spotlight, he took steps to rebuild his life and resolve the problems he was facing. He has since returned to acting, playing roles in Me, you and now Hello Joe. Recalling his absence, he admitted: “I’m so grateful to be working. I went through a lawsuit and during that process I was not working. But I definitely used this time, hopefully for good purposes. “

Franco continued: “And whatever happened to me before, I had to completely change my lifestyle. So I’m proud of the work I did at that time. And yes, I didn’t work in film, but I certainly did a lot of work to change myself.”
