Topeka’s Historic Harley-Davidson Celebrates 75 Years of History and Community

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Dozens of loyal customers and community members came out Saturday morning to celebrate the 75th anniversary Historic Harley-Davidson from Topeka.

Mike Patterson’s grandfather opened the dealership back in 1949, and Mike is now the third generation owner of the store.

Patterson said it was never just about the bikes. He said it’s about a family created among people who share a love for the same thing.

While the celebration itself was exciting, Patterson said it was also bittersweet to realize they would soon be moving.

“It’s been a great experience here in this building for 25 years, it’s become iconic and we love it, but time is moving on and it’s time for us to move,” Patterson said. “Everyone will miss this moment, but it will be great memories. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with what we’re doing with the new building. We’re excited about it, we’re making plans right now – we can’t talk about it yet, but we’re getting closer.”

Only a week left to visit Evil Knievel Museum before he gets to Vegas.
