Brighton – Wolverhampton 2:2: what Danny Welbeck said

Brighton goal scorer Danny Welbeck spoke to BBC Radio Sussex after the draw with Wolves: “Very difficult and unpleasant. It’s a terrible thing to accept. This is what we need to learn. It’s difficult because we were 2-0 up, so it’s a shame to end the game 2-2.”

“We want to get those three points but that didn’t happen today – we need to learn from that and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“We were in control, so we need to become more mature and understand the game better. It could be the 85th minute and you can play differently than you did in the first minute, so those are the things we need to be better at.” V.

“We need to develop that experience, and you gain experience by going through these difficult situations.”

On Mats Wiffer’s attacking chances late in the game: “These things happen in football. When you’re in that position, you don’t expect to be counterattacked. “It happened and it’s not his fault, we take it as a team.”

“Everyone should be together. We stick together through the ups and downs. He is an exceptional player and I am sure he will have a big impact on us in future games.”

In its current form: “I feel good. I feel fit and strong.

“The injury last week was painful, it hit a nerve and just caused some tenderness in my leg, but I recovered within a week thanks to the club’s medical staff. Everyone was great.”

“Today I couldn’t play the whole game but I felt good until the 70th minute. It was nice to score the goal and it was a great assist, but it’s hard to be happy today.”
