Medicine Take Back Day, held every two years

ST JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – We’re focusing on how to safely dispose of prescription drugs.

Saturday marked the 27th biennial drug fundraiser held right here in Michiana.

St. Joseph County Police partnered with the Five-to-Five Foundation to provide these temporary locations.

This is a way to anonymously discard unused or expired medications.

Almost any medication you find in your cupboard is accepted, even pet medications.

This is an easy way to clean up your home while making sure no one in your family or community is exposed to unused or expired medications.

“I think last April we collected about four thousand pounds, almost two tons just collected in our county, in our community,” said St. Joseph County Police Capt. Joe Fokosi.

One of the regular pill-taking sites is the St. Joseph County Jail on Sample Street in South Bend.
