The Erie County Coroner is conducting an autopsy on a body found near Millcreek Mall.

The Millcreek Township Police Department is reviewing missing person reports to help identify badly decomposed body found in Walnut Creek near Millcreek Mall on Thursday.

The body was found near the section of Walnut Creek that runs behind Elevate Church, near the northern edge of the shopping center parking lot. The fisherman said he spotted the body around 10:30 a.m. while walking along the creek bank looking for steelhead.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook performed the autopsy Friday and told the Times-News it would take some time because of how badly the body was decomposed. The autopsy was expected to be completed later Friday.

When Cook spoke to the Times-News Friday afternoon, he could not yet confirm the gender of the victim.

Det. Mike Inman told the Times-News there have been no new developments in the case since the body was discovered.
