The body of a 32-year-old woman was found on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district, four months after she was allegedly killed by her gym trainer.

The body of 32-year-old woman Ekta Gupta was recovered by police from a club located near the official residence of the Kanpur District Magistrate, four months after she was allegedly abducted and murdered by her gym trainer Vimal Soni.

The recovery happened after police arrested Soni. During interrogation, he told the police that he was with Ekta Gupta after a breakdown in their relationship.

A man, a resident of the city’s Raipurwa locality, informed the police about the place where the body of a woman was found after excavation of the ground.

According to police, Ekta Gupta went missing on June 24, following which a missing case was registered on her husband’s complaint.

During interrogation, Soni told police that he and Ekta were in a relationship but she was upset over his engagement to another woman.

On June 24, Ekta went to the gym and opposed Sonia’s engagement to another woman, after which he punched the woman, leading to her death.

“A case has been registered against Sonia under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. According to his testimony, the woman’s body was discovered and her family identified her. Further legal action will follow as a result of the investigation.” “,” a senior Kanpur police official said while talking to India Today sister channel TV Aajtak.
