Building fire in Gurugram, 12 rescued

A massive fire broke out in a four-storey building in Krishna Nagar Colony on Basai Road, causing widespread panic as women, children and elderly residents were trapped inside. Reacting quickly, neighbors used ladders to rescue 12 people before the fire brigade arrived.

The fire, which was initially suspected to be caused by a short circuit, started around 9 am. Many residents were unaware of the fire until smoke began to rise into the sky, alerting neighbors and causing noise. Children, elderly people and night shift workers sleeping in the building were particularly at risk, and some trapped residents climbed to the roof calling for help.

Without waiting for the fire brigade, neighbors quickly set up ladders and brought the stranded residents to safety from a nearby roof. Fire officials soon arrived and managed to extinguish the flames, although the fire had already destroyed most of the property in the affected houses.

A senior fire official said the suspected cause was a short circuit but investigations were ongoing. Despite the loss of valuables, all residents were safely rescued.
